The Packers, now 5-2, managed to overcome three turnovers, extending their winning streak to three games and halting the Texans' own three-game run.
Following the release of rookie Brayden Narveson, Green Bay signed the 33-year-old McManus on Wednesday. He had been out of work since the summer after facing legal issues, but the NFL concluded there wasn't enough evidence to pursue a suspension. McManus demonstrated his reliability by converting his first field-goal attempt with the Packers, celebrating with a jubilant “Lambeau leap” into the stands.
Quarterback Jordan Love threw for 214 yards while completing 23 of 31 passes, posting three touchdowns and two interceptions. For the Texans, Joe Mixon rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and Ka’imi Fairbairn made three field goals, giving Houston a brief lead late in the game.
C.J. Stroud had a challenging game, completing only 10 of 21 attempts for a career-low 86 yards, absorbing four sacks. The game's final drive featured Love connecting with Romeo Doubs, setting up the dramatic winning kick by McManus.
In a key moment, Josh Jacobs scored his first career touchdown catch, further contributing to the Pack's scoring efforts. However, the team was kept in check during subsequent possessions, allowing the Texans to regain momentum.
