Salami Comments on Jordan's World Cup Qualifying Journey

National coach Jamal Salami remarked that Jordan's impressive 4-0 victory over Oman in the fourth round of the AFC World Cup qualifiers marks the true start for the “Nashama” in their efforts to secure a spot in the World Cup. This win places them in second place in their group, ahead of Iraq on goal difference and just three points behind the group leaders, Korea.

In an interview with the FIFA website, Salami praised the recent match against Oman as ideal and emphasized the need to maintain this high level of performance in future matches.

He attributed Jordan's success against Oman to corrections made from their previous game against Korea, where they suffered a 2-0 defeat. The team learned from that experience, improving their performance through thorough preparation and analysis of Oman's play, demonstrating high discipline and seriousness.

Although the absence of player Mousa Al-Tamari affected the team, Salami expressed optimism about his recovery and readiness to face Iraq in their upcoming match.

Regarding the challenge of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, Salami mentioned the team's aspirations and the collective ambition involving everyone from players to fans. However, he acknowledged the difficulty of achieving this historically significant milestone for Jordan, emphasizing that critical turning points lie ahead.

Jordan is set to face Iraq on November 14 at Basra International Stadium, a key match expected to significantly influence their qualification prospects.
